Fair Trade Market this Saturday 10/06/2009
2 Comments

Hello hello,
Hope everyone's been in good health.
This Saturday Kirabo will be at the Lansing Center for Michigan Power Shift 2009's Fair Trade and Local Market, which runs from October the 9th through 11th. There are some other great activities going on, so check it out; but do make sure you head out there to support fair trade.

Also, Gail from Kirabo needs some volunteers to help her out at the stand for an hour or so on Saturday. Call Kirabo at (517) 337-8000 or email kirabo@att.net to get in touch and help out. It's a lot of fun, I promise.

Cheers!

Kirabo Second Anniversary Party 09/12/2009
0 Comments

Hey everybody,
Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, Kirabo will be celebrating its second anniversary hourly gift give-a-ways, modeling the new fall clothes, samplings of teas, coffees, chocolate, DVD showing of the artisans, a presentation from MSU Professor Paulette Stenzel (our faculty adviser) about Fair Trade families in Nicaragua, and more things than I have time or space to list here.
MSU Students for Fair Trade really recommend everyone stops in. I personally really enjoyed the coffee cupping last year, so call and register a seat for that as soon as you can everyone!

I'm passing on Kirabo's flyer as word and pdf attachments.

Hope to see everyone there.

Last Meeting and Elections Over 04/21/2009

Wow, I can't say how great it was working with everybody this semester.  We accomplished a lot if you think about it, and I really had a great time doing it as I'm sure you all did.  There are no more meetings or events for us until Fall most likely, but I will continue to try to update the webpage.

Lastly, I want to recognize our members who are graduating this semester.  They have poured themselves into this group and not just for their own sakes.  Many people don't believe in altruism, but I think it is hard to refute in the face of the commitment that our members have made.  I have lasting memories of each of them, and I hope they take away some great memories of their time working with MSUSFT and the community here in Michigan, and I hope they will continue to work with us on all their happy travails

Elections Tonight, Earth Day tomorrow 04/21/2009
0 Comments

For all the members, we are having officer elections tonight, so come ready to vote.

For everyone else, remember, environmental stewardship is a big ol' part of Fair Trade, and Earth Day is a great chance to exercise your ideas about it.  Earth Day is tomorrow, so grab a cup of Fair Trade coffee, and do more than plant a tree - sow the seeds of thought in some people and the Fair Trade bush will bear fruit and feed etc etc metaphor and so forth.

Okay, so it's not until May 9th, but we can all look forward to a Fair Trade Coffee Break.  Hopefully it will be warm enough to ice it.  Do more than just take a break, plan a Fair Trade awareness activity in your town!  Official Website

You can bet that the members of MSU Students for Fair Trade will organize something.  Please let us know if you want to get involved!

Hello everyone,
We have decided on the date for our Fair Trade Bash event.  It will be March 31st at 6  through 9 pm.  We'll announce the location shortly.

The event will be centered around Community and Sustainability as well as Fair Trade, and will feature as speakers local business owners, MSU faculty, and community leaders.  Again, we will be more specific in short time.  Aside from a few brief speeches we are looking to do an Earth Cafe format, so it should be really fun and engaging.  Hope to see y'all there!
